A proposal to bolster community embrace of alternative shelters.

This proposal was created over the span of about a week to answer the call from Multnomah County’s Joint Office of Homeless Services for public services around the development of alternative shelter sites. Most of the respondents were community-based organizations proposing city-sanctioned sites that they would facilitate. However, some space was left open for professionals who wanted to provide adjacent services to these sites. Seeing the conditions many of my fellow Portlanders were living in, I felt inspired to think of ways that I could contribute to this effort. What I came up with was essentially an outreach campaign to erode public resistance to these projects—which I felt was the greatest hurdle that these sites would have to overcome.
